The Forever Song (Blood of Eden#2)

The Forever Song Summary:
Vengeance will be hers.

Allison Sekemoto once struggled with the question: human or monster? With the death of her love, Zeke, she has her answer.

Monster.

Allie will embrace her cold vampire side to hunt down and end Sarren, the psychopathic vampire who murdered Zeke. But the trail is bloody and long, and Sarren has left many surprises for Allie and her companions - her creator Kanin, and her blood brother, Jackal. The trail is leading straight to the one place they must protect at any cost - the last vampire-free zone on Earth, Eden. And Sarren has one final, brutal shock in store for Allie.

In a ruined world where no life is sacred and former allies can turn on you in one heartbeat, Allie will face her darkest days. And if she succeeds, her triumph will be short-lived in the face of surviving forever alone.

THE FINAL HUNT IS ON.

The Forever Song Review:
Wow! This book was amazing and had really heart stopping moments! This book was action packed from beginning to end. Zeke has been turned into a vampire as most people had already figured out but what they didn't was what Zeke has truly become. It was an uphill battle from there between him and Allie. Of course she realizes she will have to kill him soon enough because she promised him that she would kill him if he turned. Also, there's a new tension between Jackal and Zeke and that leads to humor as well as some close to fight scenes. Jackal gets better and better with each book to be honest. Even though he is evil he still has his witty humor and he has more depth than everyone realizes. He goes a very drastic personality change but even if he's evil, makes more sense than the good guys. With Zeke being a new vampire and Allie fighting to keep him alive it got a bit annoying because they kept saying the same thing and it always led to the same place. Jackal was the one that had to set them both straight so they could get over themselves. Kanin was his calm, cool self until the very end and it was kind of boring yet interesting to see how he handled a situation. He had a good but sad ending that fitted him well but you would have never guessed it would happen. Each character got a somewhat happy ending and it was great.

The book itself was cinematic in it's descriptions and truly brought you into it's world. You could feel yourself in the book with the characters and felt their tension as they try to find Sarren. Julie managed to mix humor and action together in such a way that they compliment each other and are balanced out. Some books are known to have humor in situations where there should be drama or some terrifying scene. Every time there is a scene where it seems all hope is lost, one of the characters come along and show that there is always hope and that there is a way. The book had me at the end of my seat and screaming in my head for my favourite characters not to die. This was an amazing book and I'm really really hoping for a Jackal spin off series!

Instinct(Chronicles of Nick #6)

Instinct (Chronicles of Nick, #6)Instinct Summary:
Zombies, demons, vampires, shapeshifters— another day in the life of Nick Gautier– and those are just his friends. But now that he’s accepted the demon that lives inside him, he must learn to control it and temper the very emotions that threaten the lives of everyone he cares for. Something that’s hard to do while trying to stay off the menus of those who want his head on a platter. And no one wants him more than the dark gods who created his race. Now that they know where he is, they will stop at nothing to reclaim him. And without knowing it, Nick has just embraced the one person he should never have trusted. The one person who will hand him over to his enemies to get back the life they lost.

Nick has finally accepted his fate, now he must learn to defy his destiny, and the dark, deadly forces that will stop at nothing to destroy everyone he loves so that they can again return to the world of man and own it.

Instinct Review:
Instinct was a BOMB of a book!! It revealed so much for so many different characters. We yet again, meet a whole array of new characters and it's kinda weird to see how closely related creatures are to each other. More about that below. I'll explain all the revelations below as well, most of them at least because some you just have to discover for yourself. From the very beginning we see Nick being continuously weakened. Not due to his powers but because the people protecting him are disappearing, acting suspicious or because they are getting weakened themselves.

Nick has to face some very tough choices and force once in his life, he is making all the decisions that can kill his friends if he isn't careful. He also has to realize which friends are actually behind him and which are out to have him dead. Because of this, Nick has to go to crazy lengths to find a cure for demon sickness.

We are introduced to some new mythology that ties directly into the DH world, especially Night Embrace. We meet Nick's enemy (for now), his brother who we also know from DH, and he is trying to kill Nick to become the leader of the Armageddon. Finally we get to meet ALL of Nick's Generals that are going to help him win the war.

This book does travel slower than the previous because of the amount of time characters are talking and the action is jam packed in the last few chapters. This made sense to me because we needed a lot of revelations to happen, and this was the perfect way to happen. But because of this we didn't get to see a lot of characters. Caleb, Ash, Kyrian and others are hardly every see and we see a lot more of newer characters. Whether that is your cup of tea, this is a must read because of the amount information we learned

*SPOILER WARNING*
I'm going to quickly talk about the new revelations and links so that I can fangirl just a little bit ;)

1. Menyara is Cam (The source God) and she instigated the birth of Cherise. She made sure that Cherise would birth Nick to make him the son of Malachai and caused them to go into poverty to give Nick the best surviving chance
2. Xev and Caleb are brothers! I can't remember if this was discovered in the previous book but we learned that they have different mothers but are the son of Verlyn ( the source god)
3. Nick is the great-great thousand times great grandson of Braith(the Source God)
4. Dagon, a new charcater is the son of Noir and Hectate and this leads him to help Nick gets the Eye and Anake
5. Liv deserves to die!
6. Xev is the only one able to keep Noir and Azura locked in Azmodeus and he is the son of Azura
7. Rezar is Set, Braith is Apollymi

As we can see from above Caleb, Xev, Ash, Nick, Dagon, Nekoda are all related to each other because of their relation to the Source Gods

*END OF SPOILERS*

This book was absolutely amazing and I hope the next book is even better!! Overall 5 stars!

Dance with the Devil (Dark Hunter #3)

Dance with the Devil (Dark-Hunter, #3)Dance with the Devil Summary:
Dark-Hunter: A soulless guardian who stands between mankind and those who would see mankind destroyed. Yeah, right. The only part of that Code of Honor I got was eternity and solitude.

Insanity: A condition many say I suffer from after being alone for so long. But I don't suffer from my insanity-I enjoy every minute of it.

Trust: I can't trust anyone...not even myself. The only thing I trust in is my ability to do the wrong thing in any situation and to hurt anyone who gets in my way.

Truth: I endured a lifetime as a Roman slave, and 900 years as an exiled Dark-Hunter. Now I'm tired of enduring. I want the truth about what happened the night I was exiled-I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Astrid (Greek, meaning star): An exceptional woman who can see straight to the truth. Brave and strong, she is a point of light in the darkness. She touches me and I tremble. She smiles and my cold heart shatters.

Zarek: They say even the most damned man can be forgiven. I never believed that until the night Astrid opened her door to me and made this feral beast want to be human again. Made me want to love and be loved. But how can an ex-slave whose soul is owned by a Greek goddess ever dream of touching, let alone holding, a fiery star?

Dance with the Devil Review:
This is one of the first books in the series where I really did want to cry because of what Zarek had to endure when he was young and even as he got older. Unlike the other dark hunters, much like Julian he never got a happy ending. In Night Embrace you come to almost dislike Zarek but in Dance with the Devil you start to wonder why no one ever saw anything but hatred in Zarek. Every other person in the previous books has had an extremely large or comfortable house, but Zarek lived in a wood shack and thought of himself as nothing above slave. Zarek was a slave through and through and never learned anything about warmth or love. Even when Astrid and Zarek first met there was no love in between them. He has a icy heart but inside he cares for every living thing and will die to protect what he loves most and he has a moral.

Astrid on the other hand is incredibly kind but is jaded because she is the truth goddess and has condemned many dark hunters to shadedom( death for dark hunters). Having lost all hope in people, it was heart warming watch her get back her faith and teaching Zarek that he was worth more than his old life as a slave. Sasha as another new character that was humorous in a very sarcastic way and was very protective of Astrid. Sasha has another sad story and I'm waiting for him to get his own book.

This book made me really start to hate Artemis because she killed so many dark hunters and she managed to put it's own kind of curse on Zarek for thousands of years. I'm really waiting for her to die, but so far there's no way to kill her. We see a flash back of Acheron so we get to see why he's so jaded. Zarek's hope and loss in this book was amazing was the first book to really affect me, even though I still loved the other books as well. Overall 5 stars!

Night Embrace(Dark Hunter #2)

Night Embrace (Dark-Hunter, #2)Night Embrace Summary:
Dear Reader,

Life is great for me. I have my chicory coffee, my warm beignets, and my best friend on the cell phone. Once the sun goes down, I am the baddest thing prowling the night: I command the elements, and I know no fear. For centuries, I've protected the innocent and watched over mankind, making sure they are safe in a world where nothing is ever certain. All I want in return is a hot babe in a red dress, who wants nothing more from me then one night.

Instead, I get a runaway Mardi Gras float that tries to turn me into roadkill and a beautiful woman who saves my life but can't remember where she put my pants. Flamboyant and extravagant, Sunshine Runningwolf should be the perfect woman for me. She wants nothing past tonight, no ties, no long-term commitments.

But every time I look at her, I start yearning for dreams that I buried centuries ago. With her unconventional ways and ability to baffle me, Sunshine is the one person I find myself needing. But for me to love her would mean her death. I am cursed never to know peace or happiness-not so long as my enemy waits in the night to destroy us both.

Talon of the Morrigantes

Night Embrace Review:
Talon was a character that I liked but didn't care too much about since whenever he showed it for just a few seconds. That really changed after I read this book. It really was amazing and it so funny from beginning to end. I instantly fell in love with Sunshine and Talon and their relationship with each other.

Sunshine was in Fantasy Lover and now she's a little older. She's one of the artists that you hear about who are so into their art they forget about everything. I remember one scene where Sunshine had to keep going back into the house three times because she had forgotten something. She also is incredibly caring to anyone who affects her and is willing to take care of complete stranger, Talon. She wants to do stuff for herself even though Talon can take care of her completely. Selena shows up again and this time she's helping with Sunshine's and Talon's relationship. The way that Talon and Sunshine meets is incredible funny after the epic night battle.

Talon on the other hand is incredibly serious but is much more levelheaded than the rest of the characters. His history is incredibly sad because he lost his whole family and lived his whole life in misery. He goes to great lengths to protect from Sunshine and that shows a more caring side of him that is letting him love again.

There is a crazy revelation about Acheron, which sets the whole book up and shows a side that isn't bad-ass. there is a bonus chapter which goes to Tartarus where Acheron's secret is kept and seems to show a caring side of Acheron.

Also, Zarek and Valerius are added to the New Orleans Dark-Hunters. Valerius is the grandson of the person who killed Kyrian and he;s got the same name. Zarek is dark hunter who lives in Alaska in complete isolation and is supposed to be evil to the core, and he never turns down any rumors. All of this added together was funny and crazy.

Fantasy Lover(Dark Hunter #0.5)

Fantasy Lover (Dark-Hunter companion novel)
Fantasy Lover Summary:
Dear Reader,

Being trapped in a bedroom with a woman is a grand thing. Being trapped in hundreds of bedrooms over two thousand years isn't. And being cursed into a book as a love-slave for eternity can ruin even a Spartan warrior's day. As a love-slave, I know everything about women. How to touch them, how to savor them, and most of all, how to pleasure them. But when I was summoned to fulfill Grace Alexander's sexual fantasies, I found the first woman in history who saw me as a man with a tormented past. She alone bothered to take me out of the bedroom and onto the world. She taught me to love again. But I was not born to love. I was cursed to walk eternity alone. As a general, I had long ago accepted my sentence. Yet now I have found Grace--the one thing my wounded heart cannot survive without. Sure, love can heal all wounds, but can it break a two-thousand-year-old curse?

Julian of Macedon

Fantasy Lover Review:
I read this story after I had read about half of the books in the Dark Hunter series. I usually don't read adult books because they are so inappropriate. I read A Game of Thrones which kind of scarred me. Fantasy Lover is technically before Night Pleasures, but you can read this book anywhere in the series since Sherrilyn writes the books so that you can read each book without reading the ones before. Fantasy Lover was more darker than the other books, I had a few ah-ha moments when I read this after read Night Pleasures.

This book doesn't have much to do with dark hunters but it gives a bit of incite into other characters pasts and sheds some light onto other people's relationships. I loved Grace as a person because she loved to read those old books and had a history with each book, that I felt her lost when she lost them. She works in a very quirky place and is very ironic since she's a sex doctor and she's got to live with Julian who's got one of the biggest problem.

Julian is so much more dark and jaded, but I like how Grace heals him and shows him the light in a very dark place. The attraction is there from the very beginning of the book, but the love starts much later, and I like how it's slow and how much they truly do care about each other. This book was about healing for both Julian and Grace because of the people who lied to them and abused them. Fantasy Lover wasn't as action packed as the other books, but I still loved and one of the best books in the series.

The Longest Night(Drake Chronicles #6.5)

The Longest Night (Drake Chronicles, #6.5)
The Longest Night Summary:Since the Blood Moon battle six years ago, Lucy, and her hot vampire boyfriend Nicholas Drake, have kept the peace between the vampires of Violet Hill and the Helios-Ra hunters. But breaking up fights between rogue hunter Aggie and irresistible rebel Callahan is proving a big challenge; Aggie just can’t accept that behind Cal’s burning blue eyes, he is in control of his bloodlust. As Lucy’s best friend and Nicholas’s sister, Solange, return home for the group’s Winter Solstice celebrations, Aggie struggles to admit the real reason she finds Cal a threat – and risks far more than her heart . . .

The Longest Night Review:
After saying she would not write another book, Alyxandra wrote another one for the series. Although the book was so short, it was still action packed and a wonderful installment to the Drake Chronicles. Although, I did like Cal and Aggie, I preferred seeing Solange, Nick and all the others. Also, Hunter and Quinn are engaged after years of dating. I was sad that more of the other brothers weren't mentioned much or any of the adults. I honestly loved this book and was happy that this book was created. I am really hoping for a Lucy series now. Five stars once again.

Field Guide to Vampires(Drake Chronicles #1.5)

A Field Guide to Vampires: Annotated by Lucy Hamilton (Drake Chronicles, #4.5)
A Field Guide To Vampires Summary:
Every new recruit to the Helios-Ra Society is issued this guidebook, with secrets to the inner workings of the League the vampires they are hunting. But when new recruit Lucy Hamilton gets her hands on a copy, she can’t contain her inner snark-especially because she has first-hand knowledge of the various vampire societies that sometimes contradicts the conventional wisdom of her new academy.

A Field Guide To Vampires Review:
What a quirky little book. It could have been a novel actually with just a couple more pages. It was absolutely hilarious and definitely made my mood much brighter. It was already fun with just the handbook but with Lucy's comments in there as well. it was too funny. I really think it was one if the better books in the series. Definitely a five star!

Corsets and Crossbows (Drake Chronicles #0.1)

Corsets and Crossbows (Drake Chronicles, #0.1) Corsets and Crossbows Summary:
Rosalind Wild thinks it's time for the Helios-Ra to give full membership and recognition to the female descendants of the society-after all, it is 1816 and it's time to make room for new traditions. When Rosalind interrupts a plot to assassinate the leader of the Helios-Ra, she sees an opportunity to prove her worth. But she never expected the assassin to be someone so irresistible, and off-limits. Written as a series of letters to a close confidante, this exciting e-novella gives a glimpse of the early days of the vampire hunting society as seen through the eyes of Hunter Wild's feisty ancestor.

Corsets and Crossbows Review:
I really didn't expect to like this book as much as the full books in the series or even the other novellas. That was mainly because the whole book was written in diaries and for some reasons authors can't do those properly.  The book was exciting from beginning to end and I didn't want to put it down. I was happy that the book was that good. Also, a big secret was revealed about the Wild's family.  The secret brought a new view on how Hunter is and is kinda ironic considering how Caleb was with vampires. Really insightful just like Lost Girls! A wonderful read is one of the better short stories I've read.

Defiant Summary:
Zombies, demons, vampires, shapeshifters— another day in the life of Nick Gautier– and those are just his friends. Defiant Review:
It's officially. There's a sixth book for the Chronicles of Nick!!. I can't wait and this will help bring the Dark Hunter series and Chronicles of Nick together. Unfortunately, we have to wait a whole year for this book, but it is going to be worth the wait. Getting a major heart attack over this!!! No cover yet! Even though it's not out yet, it's gonna be awesome!

A Killer First Date (Drake Chronicles #3.5)

A Killer First Date (Drake Chronicles #3.5) A Killer First Date Summary:
Nicholas and Lucy have known each other for most of their lives, but now that they've finally admitted their feelings for each other, Nicholas wants to take her on their official first date-away from all the life-and-death drama that has surrounded them lately. Is it too much to ask for just a fun double date at the local carnival with his older brother, Quinn, and Quinn's new girlfriend, Hunter?

A Killer First Date Review:
A e-novella in the Drake Chronicles, it takes place right after Out for Blood. The First official date for Lucy and Nicholas, Quinn and Hunter, everything is supposed is to be peaceful going to a simple carnival. Unfortunately for them vampires will never leave them. A small action packed, romance filled short story. Fit into the Drake Chronicles. It was a nice side trip away from the doom and gloom of the series as we got to just enjoy a few humor-filled scenes. Wonderful as always!

Fast & Furious 6

Going into this movie, not having watch the previous ones in the serious. I was a little confused with how the movie begin. This lead me to not enjoy the movie as much since I wasn't sure who was who and what was supposed to have happened before this. Also, the movie dragged a bit in the beginning. Luckily, by the second half, the action had ramped up tenfold and I could enjoy a classic action movie. The car racing, explosions and fights were used to perfection and I hope that the last movie is the same with it's action sequences. While the action good, everything else lagged behind. I give this movie a 3 stars. Hopefully the last movie will be a lot better.

Fast & Furious 6 Trailer:

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is the first installment of the trilogy for the Hobbit. The original Hobbit is only a 300 page book, butt because the movie is also adding the book the Silmarilion, the movie is now a trilogy. The Hobbit starts of at a slow pace with a lot of story telling and you see the flash back into the Fellowship of the Ring. After the first half an hour, the movie really picks up and loyalties are tested. There were many differences from the movie to the book. They changed the appearances of some of the dwarves and omitted some stuff and changed up the rest. Even though all this happened, I really loved this movie. I usually don't like when a movie is different from the book, but this was just epic and awesome that I couldn't care less. My favourite character was Kili and I liked how he reminded me so much of Legolas who was my favourite from the Lord of the Rings. I didn't even feel the three hours go by and hoped the movie would have been longer. The scenes were absolutely breathtaking and I couldn't believe that some of that stuff was fake. The graphics in this series was a lot better than in the Lord of the Rings. When I read the Hobbit, it wasn't that interesting, but when I watched the movies I fell in love with it. I give this movie a 5 star review.

The Hobbit trailer:

Frozen

Frozen is the latest installment in the Disney princesses line up for films. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie. Even though the movie is meant for young people, anyone can watch and enjoy this movie. I loved each and every character, and like the humour that they brought to the table. Olaf was my most favourite character because not only was he so clueless it was funny, he was a talking snowman. I have watched every Disney princess movie and was hoping this wouldn't be a disappointing and I was glad I wasn't. I enjoyed the songs in the movie, because it was still the same as a classic Disney film and was happy that it hadn't changed. This wasn't a classic princess movie for a reason, which I can't say because of spoilers. The ending was good and a well deserved ending. There won't be any need for a sequel, but I would have liked something to happen for Elsa. It was refreshing to wash something so innocent after watching movies like the Grudge and Fast and Furious 6. I can't wait for the nest movie to come out. I give this movie a 5 star review.

Frozen trailer:

Catching Fire Movie

This is also pretty late and I've been too busy to post anything. I watched Catching Fire the day after it came out, and it was really worth it. Although stuff was omitted from the book, they still kept the important parts and the trailer didn't spoil anything ahead of time. The director and writers for this did a much better job with this movie. The acting was great in this and I was happy to see Sam Clafin because he was in Pirates of the Caribbean. The did change up a lot of stuff but it added to the interest of the movie. I was disappointed at the deaths because they didn't meet my standards, especially Mag's death. It was too quick and if they had gone a little longer, all four of them could have made it past the borders. Also, Finnick's mourning time was not as emotional as I was hoping for. The only death that was done properly for me was Cinna's The animals like the jabberjays and baboons were amazing and much better than the animals in the first movie. The clock theme was all done very well and I was impressed at what they had done. Catching Fire, in my opinion, is 4 stars, only because I didn't like how Mag's death turned. other than that it was great.

Catching Fire Trailer:

Hunger Games Movie

This is really late compared to when the movie already came out. I had already read the book and that probably was a mistake. I am almost always disappointed when I read a book and watch the movie. The Hunger Games wasn't an exception. It lacked a lot of the suspense and horror that was in the book. Also, a the actual hunger games was supposed to last weeks, but in the movie it only lasted a couple days at most. They cut out many major parts that I thought were important. The dogs were supposed to have the eyes of the dead tributes and were supposed to be more then 2 dogs. Also, Cato's torture was supposed to last about four days by itself. Rue's death was not as sad as I wanted and was waiting for something better. The biggest thing for me was that Peeta's leg didn't come off when the dog had bit him. This just stood out for me and I don't understand why, but I was waiting for something that was actually really good. Other than that, the action was there, and I was happy that the cave scene was so short. I really did like all the actors and the acting, especially Jennifer Lawrence. She's always a good actor. The arena was really well done and if I hadn't read the book first I would have loved the movie. In all I would give the movie a 3 stars.

Hunger Games trailer:

World War Z

I watched World War Z awhile back an decided I would post a review. The zombie apocalypse is a very worn out topic for me, but I find it interesting how each story with a zombie apocalypse changes up the story and the capabilities of the zombies. World War Z made the zombies so creepy because of the sheer number of zombies that the world faces. Also, a couple of close ups of people getting eaten and the faces of the zombies you do feel a little bit of horror. This movie isn't that scary and isn't the gory, for me anyway. I liked seeing Brad Pitt on the screen again. He is still, to me , a good actor and I liked that he hasn't changed except for his face. He looks a lot older but he is still good in action movies. I liked the plot and absolutely loved the ending. It didn't end with a problem solved yet it ended with hope, and I felt that it made the movie not as cheesy. Give it a try if you're a zombie fan or sick of same old zombie movies, and if you're a Brad Pitt fan. Overall 4 stars.
